Dubrovnik – Mlini transfer

Travelling by plane
Flying to Dubrovnik is easy. Dubrovnik international airport is, with its over 2.5 million passengers in 2018 and over 100 direct flights to European and intercontinental destinations, one of the busiest airports in the region. Luckily, it is at mere 12 km from the Astarea Hotel in Mlini where HTCC4 is being held. To reach the Astarea Hotel in Mlini from the Dubrovnik International airport, there are several options:
- Local bus lines 11, 27 and 38 departing from Molunat, Vitaljina and Gruda (respectively) towards Dubrovnik, with the stops at the Dubrovnik “Ćilipi” International Airport and in Mlini. Please check the Libertas Eastern suburban lines timetable for details on departures, exclusions and travel durations. The ticket can be bought in the bus, and paid exclusively with cash (Croatian Kuna, HRK). Please note that there are only several buses travelling on these routes daily, but you might get lucky with your landing schedule. The airport bus stop is close to the main airport terminal entrance, on the main road to Dubrovnik.
- (Organizers’ choice): Not a bad idea at all is to take a taxi (UBER) service to get you to the hotel. If you opt for the taxi operators waiting in front of the terminal building, arrange the price in advance, insist on the receipt and credit card payment. Bear in mind that you have alternative options should the driver act stubbornly. One of these (alternative options) might be his buddy, next in line. In any case, the price should not exceed HRK 150,00 (EUR 20,00) for a one way travel.

Travelling by car
From Zagreb, the mythic Croatian A1 highway will take you in five(ish) hours (ca. 500 km) to Ploče, from where you will continue for another 110 km to the Astarea Hotel in Mlini by the scenic D8 freeway past the building site of the future gigantesque Pelješac bridge (dreamed about by Croatians, funded by EU, built by Chinese) which will, for the first time in history, connect Croatian mainland with the Dubrovnik region, now separated from its tierra madre by a tiny stretch of Bosnian coastline. As the bridge is still far from being opened for traffic, the odd emplacement of the Bosnian riviera may cause a slight discomfort/delay, as you will be effectively entering and leaving Bosnia-Hercegovina on your way (usually just a routine border procedures). On your way, you will have an opportunity to pull over and enjoy probably one of the most stunning lookouts on the Mediterranean – overlooking Dubrovnik old town from a remarkable vicinity. Count on 90 mins drive for the Ploče – Mlini section.
Travelling by boat
Jadrolinija, a Croatian state run ferry and speedboat service provider, runs regular services to Dubrovnik from Bari, Italy (ferry, twice a week) and Split (speedboat, daily). From the Dubrovnik port, you can take a city bus or taxi (UBER) to the Astarea Hotel in Mlini. This gives you another opportunity to fly to Split or somewhere in southern Italy, combine business and pleasure, and take a sea route to your final destination. Visit www.jadrolinija.hr for more.
Travelling by bus
Dubrovnik is extremely well connected to Croatian and regional centres by plethora of bus services. If you are coming from the eastern (Montenegrin) side, you should ask the driver to leave you in Mlini, rather than going to the central bus terminal in Dubrovnik and then finding your way back to Mlini.
