This talk will give participants an introduction to 3D macromolecular structure data in the Protein Data Bank (PDB). The Protein Data Bank (PDB) archive is managed by the Worldwide PDB (wwPDB) consortium (wwpdb.org), who together collaborate on the development and support of the PDB archive. All data deposited at wwPDB sites around the world goes into one single PDB repository, which can be accessed from any of the wwPDB partner sites.

Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe) is one of the founding members of the wwPDB and provides unique tools and enriched data to support the understanding of structural data in the PDB archive. This talk will cover a number of these tools provided by PDBe that enable users to more easily access and interpret data in PDB entries.

Visualization of molecular structure data is important when making the assessment of structures and determining functional importance. This talk will also introduce users to the visualization tools at PDBe that allow users to quickly and easily identify regions of importance in macromolecular structures. The focus will be on the Mol* (molstar.org) visualization software, which allows users to view models and experimental maps within the browsers, alongside additional functional annotations.
